Digital Signature
For your convenience, BASIS Europe sends out electronic invoices with a digital signature.
Customers can view and print invoices with the free Adobe Reader.
For security, the electronic invoices are digitally signed, compliant with §14, Abs. 3 Nr. 1 of German VAT law. In Germany, it is required for an electronic signature on each invoice to be verified for its authenticity and integrity.
Together with the invoice, customers receive an electronic signature file (.ads or .cms) which they can verify at SignatureCheck for free. SignatureCheck is a portal provided by our partner AuthentiDate.

Customers are requested to alter neither the invoice nor the signature file, because this will cause the signature verification to fail.
If the authentification process shows that the invoice has been changed in transit, or if the customer has any other questions concerning digital signatures or invoicing in general, he or she may contact BASIS Europe sales at +49 681 96814-0 or

Depending on their location, the customer may be obliged by law to verify the signature before processing the invoice and forwarding it to tax authorities. If needed, the .pdf file, the signature file and the verification protocol can be handed over to the revenue office together.
Important: Customers are advised to archive the documents not only as hardcopies, but also in electronic format.
